Existing software care · Austria

Existing software. Reliably evolved.

Has your previous development partner gone? Does your team lack time or specialist knowledge? Neuronize can take on the continuous care and development of your application or complement your existing team as a long-term software partner.

The first conversation establishes your situation and whether we are a technical fit. No code upload is required.

Three common starting points

Your software matters. Its future needs a dependable partner.

The right entry point depends on where progress is blocked today. We make ownership and the next useful step visible first.

The previous partner is no longer available.

Your application remains in use, but changes have stalled. We assess how an orderly takeover can work and what should happen first.

Understand takeover

The team lacks specific expertise.

Your team understands the business. We add technical experience where it is needed and record new knowledge in a traceable way.

Explore collaboration

The roadmap exceeds available capacity.

Maintenance, day-to-day work and new features compete for the same time. We plan ongoing collaboration and take ownership of clearly agreed tasks.

Explore the team model

Ongoing collaboration

A partner that understands your application and evolves it with you.

We learn the application and the workflows behind it. Together we prioritise fixes, updates, integrations and new functionality. Scope, available capacity and any operational support are agreed for the specific project.

Application knowledge

Architecture, domain logic, dependencies and decisions are documented clearly.

Fixes and updates

Corrections and technical updates are planned instead of handled only when something breaks.

New functionality

Backlog, integrations and development follow jointly agreed priorities.

Controlled releases

Change, verification and deployment form an appropriate release process.

Clear ownership

Responsibilities, approvals and communication paths remain visible to both teams.

Orderly handover

Documentation and knowledge are structured so that collaboration does not become lock-in.

Taking over software

How collaboration starts.

  1. 01

    Understand the situation

We discuss the application, objectives, previous support and desired collaboration.

Outcome: shared context and a fit decision
  2. 02

    Assess the system

Within an agreed scope, we review code, dependencies, access, deployment and risks.

    Outcome: a bounded technical assessment
  3. 03

    Plan the transition

You receive clear next steps, responsibilities and an effort estimate.

    Outcome: transition and initial priorities
  4. 04

    Continue delivery

We plan upcoming work, deliver changes and review priorities together.

    Outcome: regular delivery and reviews

Responsibility that fits your team

Two models for a long-term partnership.

01

Care for and evolve your application

Neuronize coordinates the agreed technical work around your application.

  • Joint prioritisation
  • Planned development
  • Documented decisions
  • Coordinated releases
02

Complement your development team

We work with your owners on a shared backlog and clearly bounded tasks.

  • Shared backlog
  • Clear work packages
  • Knowledge transfer
  • Regular coordination

Technical fit and boundaries

Understand first, then make a dependable commitment.

A takeover does not automatically mean a rebuild. It also does not mean every application can be accepted without assessment. If you do not know the stack, an application description is enough to start.

  • Access rights, source code and dependencies are clarified during assessment.
  • Missing documentation is not an automatic exclusion; it changes the assessment effort.
  • Operations, on-call work, response times and security ownership are explicitly bounded.
  • Assessment and ongoing capacity are proposed only once scope is understood.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about software takeover

Does our application need to be rebuilt?

No. Whether existing parts should be retained, selectively modernised or replaced depends on objectives, technical condition, risk and economics.

What if there is very little documentation?

Missing documentation does not rule out collaboration. It expands the assessment because knowledge has to be reconstructed from code, systems and conversations.

Do you need source access immediately?

Not for the first conversation. A dependable technical assessment later requires authorised access, rights and available documentation.

Does the previous provider need to cooperate?

An orderly handover helps but is not always possible. We clarify available access, rights, data and operational information, and make the risk of gaps visible.

Can Neuronize also operate the application?

Operational support is agreed separately based on the system, infrastructure, security requirements and required response times. It is not automatically part of every development partnership.

How are assessment and ongoing capacity priced?

The assessment is proposed once its scope is clear. Ongoing development capacity, maintenance scope, reporting and handover terms are then agreed transparently for the intended partnership.

Can the work be handed over later?

Yes. Documentation, traceable decisions and managed access should enable an orderly transition. The exact handover scope is agreed contractually.

Non-binding fit check

How should your software evolve?

Tell us briefly about your application and the ongoing support you are looking for. The first step does not require credentials or a complete specification.
